We strongly promote its use before a training event as the primary way to capture each participant's goals, so they can be reviewed and commented upon beforehand by the session facilitator.  During the event, we recommend that participants update their action plans at regular intervals during the day.  Afterwards, the tool truly promotes the transfer of learning and the completion of each person's action plan, when each update is reviewed by the facilitator and used as a basis for remote one-to-one support.

Finally, at the end of the prescribed follow-up period, e.g. three months, we have seen tremendous value in bringing all the participants back together for an online webinar, where they can review their achievements collectively and share the best practices they've acquired since the main training event.

We recommend that the facilitator or coach spends 15 minutes per update, reading through the progress report and providing feedback. We have also seen tremendous results from adding in periodic phone calls between the participant and their facilitator or coach. Over a three month period, we suggest two 30-minute phone calls. Together, using Your Action Plan as the "cement" that joins up the process, this is a powerful way to ensure that their is noticeable behaviour change and business impact back on the job.

If you don't have the resources internally to do this yourself, then we can provide this valuable support, through partnering with you, to ensure a seamless virtual coaching service. Of course, to help things along, we can also provide coaching to your coaches, not only in how to get the most from the Your Action Plan tool, but also with regard to specific coaching issues.

If you outsource your training delivery or send people off to external open enrolment programmes, then there's nothing stopping you offering this internally and making its use a part of the overall learning experience.  Given the investment you'll be making on externally provided training services, the licence costs will be a worthwhile use of the budget to ensure you realise the participants' fees you've incurred.  And you'll have the data to hand to demonstrate the added value this training had provided the organisation.
